Terms of Service

Effective date: April 27, 2026

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Service govern your access to and use of Beavers at Work. By creating an account, posting a job, applying for a job, sending a message, submitting a review, or otherwise using the service, you agree to these Terms.

If you do not agree with these Terms, do not use the service.

2. What Beavers at Work provides

Beavers at Work is an online marketplace that helps people post local work requests and connect with handymen, contractors, tradespeople, and service professionals.

We provide tools for job posting, applications, messaging, status updates, and mutual ratings and reviews. We are not a contractor, employer, staffing agency, payment processor, escrow agent, insurer, broker, or party to any work agreement between users.

3. User responsibility

Users are solely responsible for the jobs they post, the services they offer, the people they choose to work with, and the agreements they make outside the platform.

Before starting work, users should use their own judgment and verify anything important, including identity, qualifications, licences, insurance, references, permits, safety requirements, availability, pricing, payment method, timing, scope of work, materials, and access to the property.

Beavers at Work does not guarantee any user, job, application, message, review, work quality, result, payment, legal compliance, or suitability for a particular task.

4. Offline arrangements, payment, and private information

Beavers at Work does not process or hold payments, collect deposits, issue invoices, set prices, enforce quotes, guarantee payment, or resolve payment disputes.

Users should discuss quotes, payment terms, addresses, phone numbers, scheduling, and other private arrangements offline and should never share banking information, passwords, access codes, government identification numbers, or other sensitive financial information through the platform.

Any payment, refund, deposit, tax, receipt, warranty, or invoice arrangement is strictly between the users involved.

5. Prohibited jobs and conduct

You must not use the service to request, offer, promote, arrange, or perform illegal, unsafe, fraudulent, exploitative, discriminatory, harassing, abusive, or harmful activity.

You must not post or accept work involving child labour, human trafficking, forced labour, unpaid illegal labour, unsafe work, weapons, controlled substances, stolen property, fraud, privacy invasion, hacking, unlawful surveillance, or activity that violates Canadian, Ontario, municipal, workplace, safety, consumer protection, or professional licensing laws.

You must not misrepresent your identity, qualifications, licences, insurance, experience, availability, relationship to another person, or authority to enter a property or authorize work.

You must not pressure users to share sensitive information through the platform or use messages, reviews, or job posts to threaten, harass, defame, discriminate, spam, or scam.

6. Accounts and eligibility

You are responsible for your account credentials and all activity under your account.

The service is intended for adults who can enter into binding agreements. If you use the service on behalf of a business, you represent that you have authority to bind that business.

We may refuse, suspend, restrict, or terminate access where we believe a user has violated these Terms, created risk, caused harm, or used the service in a way that may expose Beavers at Work, users, or the public to liability.

7. Job completion, ratings, and reviews

After work is marked done, users may be able to rate and review each other. Reviews should be truthful, relevant, respectful, and based on a real interaction.

We may remove, hide, or limit reviews that appear fake, abusive, discriminatory, retaliatory, irrelevant, unlawful, or otherwise inconsistent with these Terms.

Reviews are user-generated content. Beavers at Work does not verify every review and is not responsible for user statements, opinions, or ratings.

8. User content

You retain ownership of content you submit, such as job posts, applications, messages, profile information, photos, ratings, and reviews.

By submitting content, you grant Beavers at Work a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt, moderate, and use that content as needed to operate, improve, promote, protect, and provide the service.

You are responsible for ensuring your content is accurate, lawful, non-infringing, and does not include confidential, unsafe, or sensitive information that should not be shared.

9. Safety and disputes

Users are responsible for their own safety, property, tools, materials, transportation, supervision, insurance, and compliance with applicable laws.

Beavers at Work is not responsible for disputes, injuries, property damage, incomplete work, poor workmanship, payment disagreements, cancellations, missed appointments, tax issues, warranty issues, or offline conduct between users.

If you believe there is immediate danger, criminal activity, fraud, or a safety emergency, contact local authorities or emergency services first.

10. No professional, legal, tax, or safety advice

Information on the service is provided for general marketplace purposes only. We do not provide legal, tax, accounting, building-code, employment, consumer-protection, insurance, licensing, workplace-safety, or professional advice.

Users should obtain advice from qualified professionals where appropriate.

11. Disclaimers

The service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Beavers at Work disclaims all warranties, conditions, representations, and guarantees, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, security, and uninterrupted operation.

Some laws may not allow certain exclusions or limitations, so parts of these disclaimers may not apply to you.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Beavers at Work and its owners, directors, officers, employees, contractors, service providers, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or economic damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, property damage, personal injury, payment disputes, or offline user conduct arising from or related to use of the service.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

13. Indemnity

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Beavers at Work and its owners, directors, officers, employees, contractors, service providers, and affiliates from claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising from your use of the service, your content, your work arrangements, your offline conduct, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of law or third-party rights.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.

Subject to any mandatory consumer protection rights that may apply, disputes relating to these Terms or the service will be handled in the courts located in Ontario, Canada.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.

Your continued use of the service after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
